How to edit a video with premium features for free

  1. Import video, audio or images from your device and add them to the timeline; no account is required.

How to trim and combine video clips

  1. Import your clips and arrange them on the main Video track.
  2. Drag clip edges to trim unwanted moments, or split at the playhead to remove a section.
  3. Open Transitions to blend the cuts, then preview the sequence and export MP4 or WebM.

Keep the source clips and saved project if you expect to revise the edit.

How to generate automatic captions and subtitles

  1. Import a video or audio clip containing dialogue and open Captions.
  2. Expand Automatic captions, choose the selected clip, main sequence or Speech tracks, and select the spoken language or automatic detection.
  3. Generate captions, then review and edit each cue's words, timing and style.
  4. Export SRT or WebVTT subtitles, or keep captions visible in the exported video.

Recognition runs locally after the first speech-model download. You can also add captions manually or import an existing subtitle file.

How to track a callout or blur a moving region

  1. Add a callout or image, or use Annotations to create a highlight, blur or pixelation mask.
  2. Select that layer, open Motion tracking in the inspector and choose the overlapping source video.
  3. Draw a tight box around a visible, textured region, choose the tracking interval and select Track and apply.
  4. Play the result, refine the layer's offset if needed and review the affected frames before exporting.

Tracking follows a selected region's movement; it does not automatically identify faces. If the object disappears or confidence drops, the run stops and keeps the previous track.

How to convert mobile video to desktop, or desktop to mobile

  1. Open Aspect ratio beneath the preview and choose 16:9 for desktop landscape or 9:16 for mobile portrait.
  2. Select Auto-adjust to constrain earlier position and zoom edits, keep the full source visible and fill surrounding space with a fixed blurred background.
  3. Apply the framing to the main sequence, all media or selected video and image clips. Fit, Fill/crop and Blurred background remain available for manual framing.
  4. Check captions and annotations in the new layout, preview the edit and export at the chosen output dimensions.

Auto-adjust preserves image proportions and stored framing edits. Switching to a manual mode restores those edits. Square, 4:5, 4:3, 3:4 and ultrawide formats are also available.

How to add smooth video transitions between clips

  1. Import multiple videos onto the main Video track and open Transitions.
  2. Choose a dissolve, zoom, slide, wipe or fade preset and set the overlap duration.
  3. Enable automatic overlap, smooth easing and audio crossfade as needed, then apply to one cut or all cuts.
  4. Preview the applied cut and watch the complete sequence before exporting.

Overlap shortens the main sequence. Linked audio moves with its video; captions and other free layers retain their timing, so review their placement after applying transitions.

How to add callouts, highlights and animations to a tutorial

  1. Open Callouts to add a cloud bubble, speech bubble or information box and edit its text, colors and timing.
  2. Use Annotations for arrows, connectors, circles, rectangles, underlines, transparent highlights, a spotlight, magnifier or freehand drawing.
  3. Add numbered step markers, timers, counters, progress bars or sticker icons to explain the sequence.
  4. Choose pop, slide, bounce or typewriter animation presets in the inspector, or refine the motion with keyframes, then preview and export.

Use blur or pixelation masks for sensitive regions and review their coverage throughout the video.

Yes. Automatic captions, motion tracking, smooth transitions, auto-adjust framing, annotations and animation presets are free to use. You do not need to log in, register, pay for a subscription or provide a credit card. Exports have no GOATiM watermark.

Can I generate automatic captions and download subtitles for free?

Yes. Open Captions, choose a dialogue source and spoken language, then generate captions. Recognition runs on your device after the first speech-model download. Review and edit the text and timing, then export SRT, WebVTT or a video with captions.

Can callouts and blur regions follow moving objects?

Yes. Select the callout, image or annotation layer, open Motion tracking and draw a box around a visible, textured region in the source video. Tracking drives the layer's movement. Review the result; a run stops if confidence drops.

How do I convert mobile video to desktop landscape without cropping?

Open Aspect ratio, choose 16:9 and select Auto-adjust framing. It limits zoom and adjusts position to keep the full video visible, with a fixed blurred background filling the surrounding space. Choose 9:16 to convert landscape video to a vertical format. Fill mode crops edges, while Fit shows background bars.

Can I add smooth transitions between multiple video clips?

Yes. Use Transitions to apply dissolve, zoom, slide, wipe or fades through black or white to one cut or all cuts. Adjust overlap duration, easing and audio crossfade, then preview the result. Automatic overlap shortens the main sequence; free layers keep their own timing.

Can I add arrows, highlights, speech bubbles and animated text?

Yes. Use Callouts for cloud bubbles, speech bubbles and information boxes. Use Annotations for arrows, connectors, highlights, spotlights, magnifiers, freehand drawings, step markers, timers, counters, stickers and privacy masks. The inspector includes pop, slide, bounce and typewriter animation presets.

Are my videos uploaded, and does exporting add a watermark?

Your media is processed in your browser without uploading it to a processing service. MP4 and WebM exports do not add a GOATiM watermark. Speech models or compatibility engines may need to download first, and export performance depends on your browser and device.

How processing and privacy work

Video editing, caption recognition, object-region tracking, preview and rendering run on your device. Automatic captions download a speech model and runtime on first use; MP4 compatibility may download an FFmpeg WebAssembly engine. These downloads do not upload your video, audio or project files to GOATiM or another processing service.

Draw a box around the object in the video below. Its movement will drive the selected layer, keeping your current offset.

Include clear edges or texture in the region. If confidence drops, the run stops and keeps the previous track. Review the result before exporting.

Sneak peek layouts

Keep your video playing in a small region while viewers focus on your text.

Use 0 seconds for an instant change. Video keeps playing. Other titles and annotations keep their canvas positions. Overlapping layouts use the one that starts latest.

Change aspect ratio

Convert mobile videos to desktop landscape, or landscape videos to mobile portrait. Choose how your video fits the new frame.

The output ratio applies to the whole project. Auto-adjust limits zoom and position to keep the full video visible, including rotated clips, and uses a fixed blurred background to fill empty space. Stored framing edits are preserved when you switch back to a manual mode. Fit keeps the entire video without stretching. Fill crops the edges; drag a selected clip in the preview to keep your subject in view. Blurred background keeps the full video and fills the surrounding space.

Center and reset clears position and zoom keyframes on the chosen clips. Captions, annotations, timing and audio keep their edits. Check their placement in the new frame.

Visual effects

Choose an effect for the selected video or image. Each effect includes a matching sound by default. Mute its sound at any time, or adjust volume on the Sound effects track. Combine effects at the same time or place them at different moments.

Shock freeze holds the frame at the effect start, then resumes at the current timeline time. Embedded clip audio pauses during the hold; separate audio tracks continue. Effects keep the clip duration and render in exports. Splitting or trimming preserves an effect already in progress; its start may then be negative.

Video speed

Slow down or speed up your video. 0.5× plays at half speed; 2× plays twice as fast.

Speed changes apply to preview and exported video. Linked audio follows its video. Ripple sequence closes gaps on the main Video track; captions, overlays and independent audio keep their timing. Review their placement after changing speed.

Smooth transitions

Blend adjacent clips on the main Video track. Choose a preset, then apply it to one cut or the whole sequence.

Automatic overlap packs the video sequence and shortens its total duration. Linked audio moves with its video; free layers keep their own timing. Overlap is limited to half of either adjacent clip.

Captions

Generate captions from dialogue, add them manually, or import SRT / WebVTT. Select a cue to edit its text, timing and style in the inspector.

Automatic captions

Recognize dialogue locally. First use downloads a speech model (about 41 MB) and its runtime; later runs reuse the cached model. Review generated text before exporting.

Sound effects

20 built-in sounds for transitions, annotations and emphasis. Preview a sound, then add an editable audio clip.

Custom logo

Use a transparent PNG or WebP for a logo without a background. JPEG images are also supported.

Corner placement follows the canvas aspect ratio. Moving or resizing in the preview switches to a custom position. For custom placement, use the preview handles to size the logo; select a corner to use width and margin settings. Save project includes logo settings; keep the logo image for relinking.

Paste properties

Apply copied settings to the selected clips. Compatible properties are applied; clip content, source ranges and timeline timing are preserved.

Transform values replace animation on those properties unless Animation is also selected. Copied keyframes are retimed to each destination clip's duration. Annotation appearance applies to the same annotation type.

Editing guide

Import video, audio and PNG/JPEG/WebP images. The main Video track forms a ripple sequence; other video layers, captions, titles and audio use free placement. Turn Ripple sequence off to keep gaps on the main track. Click a library item to add it again, or drag it to a track. Use the trash button beside a media item to remove it. If it is used in the timeline, confirm removal of its clips, linked clips and attached sounds; unlock affected tracks first. Undo restores the media and clips. Your original files stay on your device.

Use Speed in the timeline toolbar to slow down or speed up selected clips, the main video sequence or all video clips from 0.25× to 4×. Choose a preset or enter a custom value; Reset to normal restores 1×. Preview and export use the chosen speed, and linked audio stays in sync. Review captions and independent layers after changing pace. Select a clip to edit its source range, speed, framing, volume and fades. Drag video clips to reorder; drag audio and titles to position them. Drag either clip edge to trim, or use exact seconds in the inspector.

Use Callouts to add cloud bubbles, speech bubbles, info boxes and rounded tips at the playhead. Edit their text, colors, border, tail and timing in the inspector. Use the creator toolbar for captions, audio mixing, voiceover and brand presets. Select a visual layer, then drag its preview outline or handles to move, resize or rotate it. The inspector adds text styling, transitions and keyframe animation. Detach audio processes every selected video; Detach all audio processes all videos in the timeline. Already linked videos are skipped. Each soundtrack keeps its source range, speed, volume and fades, and stays linked to its video; use Unlink to edit independently. A single Undo restores the entire batch.

Use Annotations for arrows, connectors, highlight shapes, spotlight, a magnifier inset, freehand drawings, step markers, timers, counters and stickers. Blur or pixelate a rectangle or ellipse, then use Motion tracking in the inspector to follow a moving object automatically. Drag a textured region in the source video and choose Track and apply. Position keyframes can refine the tracked offset. Magnifier Source horizontal and Source vertical choose the detail to enlarge. Freehand opens drawing mode; drag on the preview and choose Done.

Automatic captions in the Captions panel recognize dialogue in the selected media clip, the main video sequence or tracks marked Speech. Choose the spoken language or automatic detection. Recognition runs locally after a speech-model download, and results remain editable and exportable as SRT or WebVTT. Review names, wording and timing.

Aspect ratio converts between mobile portrait (9:16), desktop landscape (16:9), square, feed and other formats. Choose Auto-adjust to keep the entire video inside the frame despite earlier zoom and position edits, with a fixed blurred background filling the surrounding space. Choose Fit to preserve the full image with background bars, Fill to crop, or Blurred background to preserve the image while filling the frame. Apply framing to the main sequence, all media or selected clips. Adjust the crop by dragging in the preview, then check text and annotation placement before exporting.

Layouts adds a timed sneak peek: choose Side panel, Corner preview or Stacked, enter a heading and supporting text, and set video size, spacing, background and shrink/expand duration. Video keeps playing and returns to its original framing afterward. Move, trim, split or duplicate its Layouts block, or edit it from the inspector. Its timing is independent of the main sequence, like a title. The mute option also silences linked detached audio. Other titles and annotations keep their canvas positions.

Transitions blends adjacent main Video clips with dissolve, zoom, slide, wipe or fades through black or white. Apply a preset to one cut or all cuts, choose overlap duration, easing and audio crossfade, then preview the cut. Automatic overlap packs the sequence; free layers retain their timeline positions.

Animation presets in the inspector add pop, slide, bounce or typewriter entrances. Timers and counters run from From to To over the layer duration. Splitting and trimming preserve their progress; Fit counter to current duration restarts the range. Add annotation tracks to organize overlapping tools.

Sound effects opens 20 built-in sounds with category filters, search and preview. Add an independent sound at the playhead, or attach it to an annotation, text layer or applied transition with an adjustable offset. Attached sounds follow timing changes, copy, duplicate and delete with the effect. Edit audio volume, fades and source range in the inspector; Detach sound makes timing independent. Hiding a layer silences its attached sounds. Built-in sounds restore automatically when a project opens.

Add logo places a custom image on a Logos track. Show throughout the entire video follows edits to the content duration. Size & alignment offers independent resizing, alignment and canvas snapping. Copy properties and Paste properties apply chosen settings to compatible selected clips. Sliders preview changes while dragging; exact values and individual resets remain available.

Save project downloads edit instructions. Open it later and relink the original files. New projects can recognize renamed originals; older projects use name and size. Media is not embedded in project files.

Edits are also saved locally for recovery. After reloading, choose a recovery snapshot and relink your source files. Keep downloaded project backups: browser storage can be cleared or unavailable. The project frame rate controls frame stepping and timeline move snapping.
