THE WORKFLOW
How to extract pages from a PDF
- Open Extract pages and choose the source PDF. Check the page thumbnails to identify the pages you need.
- Enter page numbers or ranges in Pages, such as 3-5, 8. Check the selection against the actual PDF page positions.
- Preview the selection, choose Extract & download and open the new PDF to confirm its order and page count.
PRACTICAL EXAMPLES
Choose the workflow for your document
Save one chapter as a new PDF
For a chapter occupying PDF pages 6 through 12, enter 6-12. Include an introduction or references page only if the recipient needs it. Check the downloaded first and last pages before sending.
Extract nonconsecutive PDF pages
Enter a comma-separated selection such as 1, 4, 7-9. This is useful when a document has several relevant sections separated by unrelated material.
BEFORE YOU SHARE
What to check in the result
The Pages field uses document positions starting at 1. A printed page label may be different when a PDF has a cover or introduction. Extraction copies selected pages; it does not search for sensitive information elsewhere in those pages or inspect their metadata.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Questions about this PDF task
How is extraction different from splitting a PDF?
Extraction keeps your selection in one new PDF. Split creates a separate file for every page.
Does extracting pages remove them from the source?
No. It creates a new file from the selection; keep or delete your original independently.
Can I change the page order too?
Use Delete / reorder pages when rearrangement is the main task. Its page order field makes the requested output sequence explicit.
