THE WORKFLOW
How to split a PDF
- Open Split PDF and choose the PDF you want to separate.
- Check the page count and preview so you know which document you are splitting.
- Choose Split into pages, then download the resulting files. Check a sample page before sharing the set.
PRACTICAL EXAMPLES
Choose the workflow for your document
Save every PDF page as a separate file
Choose Split when each page is a complete item, such as a one-page handout. A multi-page item would be divided too, so check how many pages belong together before choosing this operation.
Keep a selected PDF page range together
Choose Extract pages for a chapter or a section that must stay in one file. For example, enter 3-5 to make a PDF containing those three pages; splitting would instead create three separate files.
BEFORE YOU SHARE
What to check in the result
Split produces one PDF per page. To keep only pages 3โ5 together as a single PDF, choose Extract pages in the toolkit and enter that range instead. Keep the original document until you have checked the output.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Questions about this PDF task
Can I extract a range instead of splitting every page?
Yes. Use the Extract pages operation in the same toolkit. It copies your chosen pages into one new PDF.
Will splitting a PDF delete my original?
The browser creates new output files. Keep the original document until you have checked the downloaded pages and their names.
Does splitting make scanned pages searchable?
No. It separates pages without recognizing their text. Use OCR on a scanned page if you need to search or copy its words.
